They made an offer today, we countered, and they accepted. After realtor fees, closing costs, and paying off this house, we'll have $6,000 left over, so this is great. We would have been happy to break even. So, assuming everything works out, the tentative date to close is January 31st, so we'll have to find somewhere to live from then until we close on our new house on May 7th.
Congrats!

Well, every single house I've called about has already been leased. The others are way more than I want to pay. Hopefully some people at church have houses for rent. We just need something for ~3.5 months!

Freaking hype dude! You'll find somewhere for the short term, don't worry if you have to pay a bit of a premium because of the short time frame to find and keep it, a few hundred extra per month won't ruin that $6k.

Well we finally found a place yesterday and he's letting us have it month to month for only $40 more than we've been paying on our house. So that's about as good as it could get. He seemed thrilled to have us as renters knowing what we do for a living and that we're responsible people because the last guy that rented there left while owing him money and left a bunch of junk inside the house. And he said that's the norm, not the exception.

Progress!
Does the fact they're marking utility points already mean that you're not having a basement dug? I honestly can't remember if you've already posted about that somewhere.

No basement or crawl space. The house will be on a slab. I'd prefer a crawl space like our current house, but we didn't have that option.

Got the slab poured. Not the best picture, but it was super muddy, and I wasn't about to walk around in it to get closer.

Getting antsy wanting to see the house start going up. We're supposed to close on our old house two weeks from today.

They've started the framing. I'm gonna go by during my lunch today to look at it. The moved the closing on our old house back a week, so now it's the 23rd.

Can't believe how fast they're going now. I haven't even had a chance to go walk around in it since they started framing. Now that we're working 6 days a week because it's tax season, it may be Sunday before we get to go by.
(If you guys don't care about these pictures, let me know and I'll stop posting. I'm just excited about it.)

It's in a subdivision. My lot is just against the woods. I can take pictures of the surroundings and you'll see it's not just us in some scary area lol.

Some of your neighbors have fences so maybe that means that kind of thing isn't a big deal in that subdivision. In a lot of subdivisions here fences are seen as a blight item, others allow them only if they're vinyl or wrought iron.
Also, you might have a cop living around the corner?

We'll have a fence. If you have a fence in this subdivision, it has to be a stained shadowbox fence like the ones you see in the video. I can't imagine anyone seeing fences as a bad thing unless they look bad.
Yeah, there's a cop living in one of those houses. Our next door neighbor at our old house was a cop too, though, so nothing new for us there.

Good lord the South is noisy. Also, those are some gigantic ugly roofs your neighbours have.
But other than that, everything looks great!
Also, lol at the look on your wife's face at 0:51 in the second vid. I can hear her thinking that, "if you want a video as we're driving, I can do that while you drive" from here.

Our roof will look like that.
Edit: The house on the right at the intersection at 0:46 in the second video is the exact house we're building.
